Purpose
SPABC’s purpose is to bring B.C. property management companies together to:
- Develop and uphold common standards of performance and ethics
- Further the establishment of post-secondary educational programs for future generations of strata property professionals
- Provide education and research to industry members and the public
- Represent a united, effective voice to various levels of government.
Formed in 2000, SPABC is the voice of more than 120-plus B.C. professional property management companies, specifically residential strata management companies acting as agents for approximately 350,000 strata lot units.
British Columbia’s strata industry is vibrant and growing, with more than 33,000 strata corporations made up of more than 900,000 individual units, including condominiums and townhomes. Skyrocketing development and strata ownership underscores the need for the strong voice of leadership, advocacy, education and resources provided by the Strata Property Management Association of British Columbia (SPABC).
SPABC members strive to reach above and beyond the basic licensing requirements written by the province of British Columbia in both company practices and a commitment to furthering the establishment of post-secondary educational programs for future generations of strata property professionals.

SPABC leadership has in-depth knowledge of the factors affecting strata property companies. One of the issues we are working diligently on is the fact that the majority of strata agents in this multi-billion-dollar industry in B.C. are nearing retirement, which is resulting in a sector-wide workforce challenge.
Without enough strata professionals, who will protect the value of millions of dollars in assets? We know our role is critical not only for owners, but also as part of provincial infrastructure and real estate value.
Looming agent shortages is just one of the issues SPABC is focusing on for the benefit of members and the industry.
